footnote Maven has provided me with another excuse to show off my handsome dad, Frank Shane. Isn’t he a hunk? This picture was probably taken about 1940 and during those years our family took a yearly trip to the town of Long Beach Washington, which of course has a Looooong… Beach.
The irony is that dad didn’t especially like to swim, but here he is in his “suit” anyway!

Thank you for the comment! Yes, the men were indeed modest then…. my friend Jan mentioned that her dad had a similar swimsuit and it was made of wool! Amazing isn’t it?
