Interesting Names

You can’t do genealogy or family history for long without running into some very interesting names.  My observation is that people in the 19th century were just as creative in the naming of their children as they are today.  Here’s a list of some of my favorites…. all are actual names found on census records:

Given names:

Fluetta

Zelotes

Phenehas

Aholiab

Syllinda

Vialena

Premillia

Lavantia

Cornelius Codbaugh

Zoroaster Porter

Sedgewick Hottenstein
